KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow on several major highways nationwide was slow-moving tonight due to heavy vehicle volume as well as breakdowns and accidents.
According to updates from PLUS Trafik, congestion was reported along the North-South Expressway (NSE), particularly on routes heading towards the Klang Valley and the southern region.
Northbound traffic from Sungai Buloh to Rawang was moving slowly as at 10.41pm.
Meanwhile, southbound congestion was reported from Southville City towards the Seremban Rest Area (R&R) at about 10.45pm.
In Penang, a car breakdown on the Penang Bridge at Km 6.8 eastbound from the island towards Prai caused the right lane to be blocked, resulting in slow-moving traffic at about 10.16pm.
Earlier, a trailer breakdown at Km 2.2 on the same route had obstructed the left lane. Although the lane has since been reopened, traffic remained sluggish in the area.
Separately, an accident at Km 258.3 southbound from Kuala Kangsar towards the Menora Tunnel caused congestion after the middle and right lanes were blocked. Highway authorities later reopened the affected lanes, but the emergency lane remained closed as of 10.12pm.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, comply with traffic instructions and plan their journeys accordingly.
