Cheras Umno division information chief Zamri Redzuan @ Ridzuan who was charged with criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM4,350 claimed trial at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today.
Zamri had control of the Pasar Pudu branch's current account, and he allegedly deposited RM4,350 from the branch into his personal account sometime in Jan 27, 2014.
DPP Khairul Anuar Wahab of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) asked for bail to be set at RM15,000 and that the accused surrender his passport.
However, Zamri's lawyer Mohd Baharuddin Ahmad Kassim pleaded for a reduced bail of RM7,500, stating that his client runs a furniture shop and is the sole breadwinner taking care of his elderly parents.
Baharuddin added that Zamri's four children are still studying, three at universities and one in a primary school.
Sessions judge Mohd Nasir Nordin set bail at RM8,000 with one surety and fixed April 22 for mention.
DPP Khairul said the prosecution will call about eight witnesses to testify, four them being main witnesses.
The judge also fixed May 9 to 13 as hearing dates.
