Residents at the Bukit Jenuk and Bukit Tunggul Orang Asli villages near Dengkil claimed they were promised electricity supply and clean water before every election.
Bukit Jenuk villager Lina Abdullah, 63, said these promises would be made by politicians who visited the village during election campaigns.
“We are tired. These ‘orang dacing’ people come before every election, saying they want to give us electricity supply and clean water, but until now nothing has come out of these promises.
“We are disappointed that Putrajaya has everything while we have nothing even though Putrajaya is just next to us,” she told FMT.
Mohamad Amin Abdullah, 67, also said villagers were still waiting for work to begin to supply electricity and water.
“This should not be happening. Putrajaya is so close to our village, yet we have no electricity,” he said, adding villagers had been waiting for years.
Kadir Mohamad Amin, 32, said villagers had requested for electricity and clean water supply through the Sepang Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) numerous times, but there had been no response to date.
Lamenting the lack of response, Kadir said the situation made the Orang Asli villagers in Dengkil feel abandoned despite them being citizens of this country.
