Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has refuted Umno’s accusations that he had bought a house he previously rented at an unusually low price.
Lim said the house on Jalan Pinhorn was 30 years old and was an ordinary bungalow lot.
“It is not a mansion and has no swimming pool,” Lim told Malaysiakini.
“I will response to the matter at a press conference tomorrow,” he added.
Earlier, Lim tweeted “More lies by Umno trying 2equate me with BN. Bought 40yr old house through subsale not thro developer will reply 2mrw”.
He was responding to Shabudin Yahaya (BN-Tasek Gelugor) who claimed in the Dewan Rakyat today that Lim had bought the house he previously rented at an unusually low price.
Shabudin said the house in George Town was initially valued at RM2.5 million in 2008, and had extensive renovations made, but was sold to Lim last year for just RM2.8 million.
Shabudin claimed this did not realistically reflect the rise in property value. -Mkini
