Harapan to hold several anti-Najib rallies

Pakatan Harapan will be promoting the Save Malaysia movement in a series of rallies.

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said this will give a chance to all Malaysians to take part in the movement.

"This is because the March 27 gathering (called) by Zaid Ibrahim is closed-door and limited to those invited only," Mohamad said at a press conference at the opposition office in Parliament today.

The first rally will be held at the Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya field on March 23.

A subsequent rally will be held in Gelang Patah, Johor, on April 16, and in Kedah on May 7.

Mohamad said invitations to March 26 rally have been extended to former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, suspended Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin, and Umno vice-president Shafie Apdal.

Through the rally, Harapan will push for the Save Malaysia movement's demands for institutional reforms and for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to step down.

They also seek to secure the freedom of jailed former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Meanwhile, Mohamad said Harapan will also be organising a protest against the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on April 2 at Dataran Merdeka.

"The theme of the protest is 'Under Najib, Mansuh GST' (Down with Najib, abolish the GST)," he said.

He added that there will be a grand finale for the anti-GST event on May 31 at the Kuala Lumpur Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, featuring all Pakatan Harapan leaders.

Asked how many attendees he expects for the rallies, Mohamad simply said: "A lot." -Mkini
