A moderate 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck southwest of Sumatra at 4.20am today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department. MetMalaysia in a statement said the quake epicentre was 604km southwest of Siberut, Indonesia and 1,110km southwest of Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan. The quake did not pose any tsunami threat, it said. – Bernama
