MyWatch leaps to defence of traffic cop in video

Anti-crime watchdog head R Sri Sanjeevan says policewoman who scolded a member of the public in viral video was provoked and patience has its limits.
Datuk-R-Sri-SanjeevanPETALING JAYA: The traffic policewoman accused of scolding a complainant at the traffic inquiry office of the Subang Jaya police headquarters has been advised to make a police report to investigate the person who recorded the video which has since gone viral.
According to Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairman R Sri Sanjeevan, the person who recorded the video knew the complainant and had ill intentions towards the policewoman.
“The person who recorded it only recorded the part where the policewoman was upset.
“The part where he (the cameraman) said the word ‘bodoh’ was not in the recording,” Sanjeevan said in a statement today.
Sanjeevan said he regretted the provocative attitude of both the complainant and cameraman and disagreed that the policewoman should be blamed for it.
“The policewoman was provoked. Policemen are also human and their patience has limits.
“MyWatch regrets the negative intentions of the video.”
MyWatch also hopes the public would not emulate the cameraman’s attitude.
“He tried to discredit the police, but ended up embarrassing himself in the end.”
Subang Jaya police chief ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadar had announced earlier that the policewoman had been transferred immediately.
He said police viewed the matter seriously and he gave his assurance that a transparent investigation of the now-viral incident would be conducted.
