Orang Asli not left out, says Najib

The government is committed to provide continuous education and ensuring the wellbeing of the Orang Asli community.
KUALA LUMPUR: The government will not let any group of people, including the Orang Asli community, to be left out of the national development agenda, Prime Minister Najib Razak said.
He said the government’s commitment in this aspect was visible in the efforts taken by the Malaysian Muslim Welfare Organisation (Perkim) through Asrama Darul Falah (ASDAF) in providing continuous education and ensuring the well-being of the Orang Asli community.
“Alhamdulillah, I had the opportunity this afternoon to visit ASDAF at Bukit Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur, which is managed by Perkim for children of Orang Asli in remote areas,” he said in his blogwww.najibrazak.com today.
The prime minister said he was informed by ASDAF principal Ustaz Zulyadain Mohd Radzi that the current condition of the hostel was unsatisfactory and it must be upgraded to accommodate the 42 children.
“The beds, mattresses and pillows are among other things that need to be changed immediately for the comfort of the children. Besides, the surau, water tanks and toilets also need attention. Repair and upgrading work will be done immediately by Malaysia’s leading youth volunteer community, 1M4U,” he said.
Najib said 1M4U would also organise English language tuition classes for the children sitting for public examinations this year.
Information technology and vocational skills classes would also be organised with the cooperation of GIATMARA, he said.
The prime minister said a long-term hostel restoration project would also be carried out to enable the children to have a more conducive living and learning environment.
“Insya-Allah, I will come back to visit the hostel to ensure that the project is completely implemented,” he added.
