PKR: Home Ministry should flag 'wanted man' Jho Low

The government should put a notice out on business tycoon Jho Low so an alert is issued if he turns up at any Malaysian embassies, said a PKR lawmaker.
Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen said this would help bodies like Bank Negara and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) get in touch with Low, should they need to question him on 1MDB.
"We all know that Low is a person of interest in the investigation on allegations of misappropriation in 1MDB.
"So if he has a five-year passport, it is safe to assume that it would be due for renewal sometime this year or the next," Wong said in a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had recorded Low's statement last December, said to be on 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion political funding deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts.
On top of flagging the wanted man, Wong (photo) said Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should also get in touch with United States' authorities, and find out if stating that Low is in possession of an American passport were true.
He was commenting on the home ministry's parliamentary written reply yesterday where it was stated that the billionaire's Malaysian citizenship had not been revoked as there was no complaints that Low is a citizen of another country.
Sarawak Report had made claims last year that Low was now a US citizen and owned a US passport.
The Penang-born tycoon is currently based in Hong Kong.
He has denied involvement in 1MDB, saying his only link to the sovereign wealth fund was that he helped set up its predecessor the Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA).
1MDB has also denied hiring or paying Low.
The Wall Street Journal and Sarawak Report however alleged that Low had taken part in 1MDB's joint venture with PetroSaudi International.
They claim that monies meant for the joint venture had been siphoned by companies under Low's control. -Mkini
