Rayani Air may be grounded if complaints continue

The Transport Ministry will take action against Rayani Air if it receives more complaints about the syariah-compliant airline.
Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said such action may include suspending Rayani's operating licence.
"If there are more complaints, we will definitely refer them to the aviation commission.
"The commission can even suspend (them) if we feel they don’t follow our orders," Liow told reporters when met at the Parliament lobby today.
He said Rayani has already been served several notices, including for flight cancellations without replacements.
"We don’t simply issue warnings. Cancelling flights and not replacing them is serious."
He said the first warning had been issued after Rayani blamed a crack on its window pane on sabotage.
"They can’t simply quote like that. They have to be very careful on their fact. This is an airline.
"It is normal for plane window to have cracks," he said.
Liow added that the ministry is also probing a viral image of Rayani Air allegedly issuing handwritten boarding passes (pix).
Rayani Air was launched in December last year and marketed as the first Malaysian airline to be fully syariah-compliant. -Mkini
