Red horde swarms Dr M's Putrajaya office

Around 500 protesters, led by Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos, braved the scorching heat this afternoon to rally against former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Putrajaya.
The protesters, many of whom wore red, carried banners criticising Mahathir, and rejecting the Citizens' Declaration he signed on March 4.
One of the banners said Mahathir was being a DAP tool, while another reads, "Dr M jangan jadi Melayu mudah lupa" (Dr M, don't be a Malay who easily forgets).
They gathered outside Mahathir's office at the Perdana Leadership Foundation, where the gates were closed to the red horde.
A riot police unit was stationed inside the compound.
Jamal said the group consisted of leaders of the Gabungan NGO-NGO Malaysia group, from Negri Sembilan, Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Pahang.
He claimed there were 1,000 there to support him in sending a memorandum to express their disappointment with Mahathir, his son Mukhriz, and suspended Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin.
“Many of those here were loyal and strong supporters of Mahathir.
“But now Mahathir is a treacherous traitor,” he said.
He sent the memorandum to a representative of the Perdana Leadership Foundation, and the crowds dispersed just 15 minutes after the protest began.
Met by reporters after the brief rally, Jamal said he was not concerned about inspector-general Khalid Abu Bakar’s remarks that action would be taken against a protest he held on Wednesday.
Jamal had pasted an obscene banner on a billboard urging that jailed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s be freed in Ampang.
“That’s up to the police [...] I’m not afraid (to be arrested). It’s those who put up the billboard who should be afraid and arrested,” he said. -Mkini
