'Roads jammed, airport packed, but you claim rakyat broke?'

Parliament The Goods and Services Tax (GST) has not hurt the people's pocket as highways are still jammed with cars and airports crowded with pilgrims heading to Mecca.
This is how Noor Azmi Ghazali (BN-Bagan Serai) refuted Pakatan Harapan lawmakers who claimed GST caused price hikes and agony to the people.
"(You) say the people suffer. What I see are jammed highways. The same with the airport - not Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), but Terengganu Airport.
"This year alone, 40,000 travelled abroad to perform the umrah," he said.
"(You said the people) suffer, suffer and suffer, (but they) visit Vietnam and Indonesia (for holidays).
"In fact, what was said by Pakatan (Harapan) that GST caused suffering to the people are lies. Nonsense. It is just merely perception," he said while debating the royal address at the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was responding to Zuraida Kamaruddin (PKR-Ampang) who asked how are the Bagan Serai constituents receiving the GST
"From what I see, you have been talking about GST passionately. I want to ask you a simple question: will your constituents applaud when you give a talk on GST at Bagan Serai?" she asked.
Meanwhile, Noor Azmi also defended the rising government debts that have climbed to RM650 billion.
"We have spoken about debt many times, only animals have no debts. Debts will make our life at ease. Our government can afford to clear its debt," he said.
"If the people can afford to pay car and housing (loans), can they take loans?" he said.
"There is nothing wrong being in debt," he said.
