Kelantan, Kedah to use federal National Day logo, theme

The PAS-led Kelantan government will not use a different National Day logo and theme as proposed by the Perikatan Nasional Youth wing recently.

According to state Deputy Menteri Besar Mohamed Fadzli Hassan, Kelantan will use the federal government's “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” (Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope) theme, but pad it up with the words “Membangun Bersama Islam” (Rise with Islam).

"The Kelantan state government will maintain the National Day theme set by the federal government.

"We will also use the same logo," Fadzli (above) said at a press conference after attending the state executive council meeting in Kota Bharu today.

Also present were Kelantan Menteri Besar Mohd Nassuruddin Daud and state executive councillors.

PN Youth recently unveiled an alternative Merdeka logo, which depicts the national flower - the hibiscus - with five petals, taking the colours found in the Jalur Gemilang and with the theme "Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera" (Strong Consensus for a Peaceful Malaysia).

This was proposed as an alternative for the PN-led states of Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Later, PN Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said that they were merely "throwing out ideas" to use a different logo and theme.

Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said his administration will be using Putrajaya’s Malaysia Madani theme, while his Perlis counterpart Mohd Shukri Ramli said he only rejected the federal logo as well as the Malaysia Madani tagline but had no problem with the "Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” theme.

PN’s component party, Gerakan had previously objected to the alternative logo and theme idea.

Sanusi says state will ‘just follow’

Meanwhile, the Kedah government will also be using the National Day logo and theme introduced by the federal government, said Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, according to Bernama.

“We will follow the federal government just like Terengganu, that’s our stand. There is no issue, (we use) the same logo and theme (as the federal government).

“It is because the celebration is held at the national level, the state will just follow,” he told a press conference after the state executive council meeting at Wisma Darul Aman in Alor Setar today. - Mkini
