Meranti assemblyperson Mohd Nassuruddin Daud has been sworn in as the ninth Kelantan menteri besar today.
Nassuruddin, 58, was sworn in before Kelantan ruler Sultan Muhammad V in a ceremony held at the state palace in Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu, at around 5.30pm.
Also taking his oath of office is Temangan assemblyperson Mohamed Fadzli Hassan as the state’s deputy chief minister.
The ceremony was attended by Kelantan Crown Prince Tengku Muhammad Faiz Sultan Ismail Petra, Kota Bharu High Court judge Roslan Abu Bakar, state assembly speaker Abdullah Yakub, Kelantan mufti Mohamad Shukri Mohamad and his deputy Nik Abdul Kadir Nik Mohamad, and Kelantan Syariah Court chief judge Ibrahim Deris.
During the state election on Saturday, PAS managed to defend its control of the state government after garnering 43 out of 45 state assembly seats.
Nassuruddin is the third Kelantan menteri besar from PAS since the party won over the state in 1990. He succeeds the late Nik Aziz Nik Mat (1990-2013) and Ahmad Yakob (2013-2023). - Mkini
