Online watch to prevent GISBH members from reverting

The police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission are working closely to monitor online activities of the GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd network to prevent its members from reverting to deviant teaching, says home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said the ministry is intensifying efforts to rehabilitate followers of GISBH to prevent them from reverting to deviant teachings prohibited by religious authorities.

Saifuddin said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has instructed the ministry to adopt a consistent and systematic approach instead of seasonal measures, Bernama reported.

“The prime minister has also directed the police to curtail any elements that could expose GISBH followers to such teachings,” he said while on a visit to Tumpat, Kelantan.

He said GISBH followers were returning to their old beliefs not through physical texts but through online platforms.

Asked about the status of children linked to GISBH followers, Saifuddin said most of the children have been reunited with their parents or guardians.

Since the first phase of Op Global began in early September, authorities have detained 415 individuals, including the top management of GISBH, and rescued 625 victims aged between two months and 28 years. - FMT
