New rules on foreign aircraft now expected in first quarter

PETALING JAYA: 

New rules on foreign-registered aircraft planned by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia are expected to be published by the first quarter this year, CAAM chief executive Norazman Mahmud said.

He said a review of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016 was nearing completion. “I’m pushing for the first quarter…it’s almost complete, towards the final stage of the review,” he said on Bernama TV.

In August, Norazman said the new rules on foreign-registered aircraft operating within Malaysia were expected by the end of the year following a review of the regulations.

The review was conducted following the crash of a Beechcraft private jet near Elmina, Shah Alam in Selangor, which claimed the lives of 10 people. The jet bore the registration number N28JV, denoting it was registered in the United States. - FMT
