
Speaking to reporters at the incident site control post here, Hussein said 219 of the 439 homes evaluated in the blast’s expanded radius were found to have been damaged, of which 87 homes experienced damage exceeding 20% (major damage).
Of the damage to those 87 homes, 10 were assessed as being at 81%-100%, 21 were found to be 51%-80%, and 31 at 21%-50%.
“Homes with less than 20% damage (132 homes) have been allowed to start repairs from today. A list of these houses will be distributed and communicated to the homeowners,” he said.
Yesterday, Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the area affected by the fire has been expanded from a radius of 290m to 325m covering Taman Putra Harmoni and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru.
According to Hussein, 130 homes in Taman Putra Harmoni and 24 homes in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru have been found to be habitable.
The fire which broke out on Tuesday morning along Jalan Putra Harmoni engulfed a 500m section of a gas pipeline, causing severe damage to homes and vehicles.
It was previously reported that a total of 235 premises were affected, with 87 houses declared a “total loss” and deemed unfit for occupation, while 148 others could be occupied after repairs.
A total of 399 vehicles were also affected, with 225 burnt and 174 damaged. - FMT
