Cops shoot dead man involved in kidnapping of teen girl in Seremban [WATCH]

KLANG: A man involved in the kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl in Seremban last week was killed in a shoot-out with police here early this morning.

Criminal Investigation Department deputy director Datuk Fadil Marsus said the girl was kidnapped in Avenue 2, Seremban last week and released a day later when a ransom of RM280,000 and several pieces of jewellery were handed over to the kidnappers.

The girl was then dropped off in Sendayan by a blue Proton Wira.

Cops later tracked this car and found it being driven in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang this morning.

Fadil said when police tried to stop the driver, who was 21, he refused to stop sparking a chase during which he drove against the flow of traffic.

"The suspect then crashed into a police car and a shootout ensued. The suspect was shot dead," he said to reporters at the crime scene.

A pistol and a parang were seized.

Fadil said the suspect who was killed this morning had no criminal record but was involved in the kidnapping.

KIDNAPPING SOLVED

Meanwhile, Fadil said that the police considered the kidnapping case solved with the arrests of other suspects. He said more details of the case, including the number of arrests, seizures and ransom recovered, will be released soon.

He however confirmed that the girl was kidnapped on the evening of April 10, after which the kidnappers demanded a RM2 million ransom.

The girl was released at an undisclosed location in Sendayan at 9.30pm on April 11.

The police continued their probe, carrying out several raids leading to arrests. "The police will go all out to eradicate violent crimes," he said. - NST
