It was all fun and festive splashing - until the water guns ran dry.
What started as a cheerful Songkran celebration at a shopping mall in Damansara turned into ruckus when chairs and fists went flying.
The altercation was caught on camera, and the video has since gone viral.
And now, police have revealed that the brawl was sparked by a squabble over filling water guns.
Petaling Jaya district police Shahrulnizam Ja’afar said the five individuals, aged between their 20s and 30s, were detained to assist in the investigation.
“We have detained five men. The incident is said to have started due to a dispute over filling water for water guns used during the festival,” he added in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons.
If convicted, a person can be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years or with fine or with both. - Mkini
