No ‘tight spot’ in politics, just find solution, Bung tells Razeef

Sabah BN chairman Bung Moktar Radin responds to state PH information chief Razeef Rakimin’s concern that PH might be in an uncomfortable position if BN doesn’t smoothen its ties with GRS.

PETALING JAYA
Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Bung Moktar Radin has dismissed claims that BN’s cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) during this year’s Sabah state election will leave PH in an uncomfortable position.

Earlier today, Sabah PKR information chief Razeef Rakimin said any cooperation between BN and PH in the upcoming state polls would leave PH “in a tight spot”, as Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and PH make up the state government currently while BN sits in the opposition in the state assembly.

“In politics, there’s no such thing as being in a tight spot,” Bung told FMT.

“As a leader, we must know how to find a way out. As I’ve already clarified, BN is only cooperating with PH.”

Yesterday, Bung announced that BN would work with PH, which is currently part of the Sabah government led by GRS under chief minister Hajiji Noor.

Previously, Bung stressed that BN and Umno would not cooperate with GRS at the state polls, while Hajiji – who is the GRS chairman – has said that the coalition is committed to working with PH.

Bung, who is also the Lamag assemblyman, said BN is cautious about choosing its other partners for the state election.

“We have opened the door, but it’s not wide open,” he told FMT.

“We want potential partners to show they are serious and committed (to working with BN).”

On April 3, Bung said BN will announce an electoral alliance ahead of the next state polls as the coalition accepts the fact that under the current political landscape in Sabah, no party could win enough seats to form a government on its own. - FMT
