The Perak fire and rescue department said they were among seven workers who were trapped in the sewer.
When a rescue team arrived at the scene, five workers had already been pulled out by members of the public and sent to a clinic for treatment, said the department’s assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad.
“Two others remained trapped,” he said. The two men, aged 29 and 37, died at the scene, while the other man, an Indonesian, died in hospital.
Sabarodzi said the sewer was about 5m long, 4m wide and 2.4m high. Firefighters were suited up with breathing apparatus before entering the sewer to extract the bodies. - FMT
