
JURU: An iron hardware factory at Taman Perusahaan Ringan Juru here was partially destroyed in a fire this afternoon.
No casualties were reported.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis said a team in one fire engine was deployed to the scene after the department received an emergency call about the incident at 3.18pm.
He said the operation was also assisted by teams from the Sungai Bakap and Bandar Perda fire stations, as well as the Juru Volunteer Fire Brigade.
"The fire involved a semi-permanent Class B factory covering an estimated area of 150 by 200 square feet.
"So far, about 60 per cent of the premises has been destroyed, and operations are still ongoing to control and fully extinguish the fire," he said in a statement.
John said no victims have been reported in the incident based on initial information received.
