Fire guts tour bus on Mex Highway

KUALA LUMPUR: A tour bus was destroyed in a fire on the Mex Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur this morning, but no casualties were reported.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the incident occurred at Km20.2 of the highway near a rest area around 8.14am.

"A team of seven firefighters and a fire engine from the Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue Station was deployed to the scene.

"The firefighters arrived at 8.25 am and managed to bring the blaze under control shortly after.

"No victims were reported," he said in a statement.

Mukhlis added that the bus, bearing a registration number CRR 9522, was 90 per cent destroyed in the fire. - NST
