PUTRAJAYA:
The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) is not ready yet to publicly disclose unimplemented recommendations by enforcement agencies under its purview, says its chairman Ismail Bakar.

He said the commission has engaged with the enforcement agencies and received assurances that they would act on EAIC recommendations.

“They have promised to cooperate and ensure the recommendations are implemented, but this will take time because it involves matters such as staffing and allocations.

“Sometimes these recommendations also involve internal investigations and disciplinary action,” he said after an EAIC appreciation award ceremony here today.

On Feb 10, Ismail said EAIC would publicly disclose recommendations that had yet to be acted upon by agencies as part of efforts to strengthen governance and ensure accountability.

On Jan 28, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had issued a stern warning to senior enforcement officials, giving them a week to confirm whether they were prepared to shoulder their responsibilities or face reassignment to lower positions, following long-standing enforcement issues. - fmt
