Cops posed more than 60 questions, says former Negeri Sembilan exco man

Former Negeri Sembilan executive councillor Asna Amin said he answered more than 60 questions when giving his statement to police today in connection with an investigation into the state’s administrative and royal crisis.

The statement-taking session at the Negeri Sembilan Islamic religious council building in Seremban involved 10 former exco members and several other individuals. They were seen leaving at about 2pm, reported Utusan Malaysia.

Asna said he spent more than half an hour providing his statement to officers from the Bukit Aman classified crime investigation unit.

“For now, we are simply giving our statements. I understand that many more people will be called.

“Everything was conducted professionally, and we also answered the questions properly,” he said.

He said menteri besar Ismail Lasim was not present.

Asna, who is also the Lenggeng assemblyman, said all official vehicles and state government property would be returned today following an order from the state secretary.

Meanwhile, Serting assemblyman Fairuz Isa said it took him about two hours to give his statement.

“Everything was answered properly,” he said.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail said yesterday the 10 former exco members would be summoned to assist in an investigation into the state’s royal and administrative crisis.

Khalid did not disclose any details on the investigation but did not dismiss the possibility of classifying the case under the Sedition Act.

The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, revoked the appointments of the 10 exco members on Sept 20 after the palace said they were found to have breached their oaths of office and pledge of allegiance to the state ruler, which they took on Aug 7.

The revocation of the appointments came a week after the exco released a joint statement purportedly affirming Tuanku Muhriz’s removal as the state ruler.

The Negeri Sembilan crisis was sparked in April by the purported removal of Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang Dipertuan Besar, though this has been deemed invalid by the state’s highest customary council and the Attorney-General’s Chambers, among others. - FMT
