Pakatan must be crazy, says Perkasa

Referring to Pakatan Rakyat's supposed shadow Cabinet list, the Malay rights group says the line-up will only drain the nation's coffers as it is bloated.
PETALING JAYA: Without mincing its words, Perkasa has described the supposed Pakatan Rakyat’s shadow Cabinet list as a “crazy line-up”.
“It doesn’t make sense at all. It’s best if the people stick to Barisan Nasional,” said its secretary-general Syed Hassan Syed Ali.
On Saturday, several Pakatan MPs who claimed anonymity gave a list of the opposition bloc’s shadow Cabinet line-up which indicated Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim helming the premiership with three deputy prime ministers.
The line-up also listed three to four names to manage each ministry but failed to indicate who would head the ministries.
Syed Hassan said should Pakatan take over the federal government, it would only drain the nation’s coffers in order to finance its bloated Cabinet.
“We are not only talking about their salaries alone but also other perks such as allowances and benefits accorded to each of them,” he said.
By not indicating who would head the ministries, Syed Hassan said Pakatan leaders prepared the list in a haste just to please all races.
“If they want to please everybody, why not appoint three ministers of different races in each ministry?” he asked in jest.
‘Dream on, Pakatan’
Echoing Syed Hassan’s sentiments, Gagasan Anti-Penyelewengan Selangor (GAPS) chairman Hamidzun Khairudin said Pakatan’s Cabinet line-up would only waste taxpayers’ money.
“Does Malaysia need three deputy prime ministers with its 27 million population?
“Besides, if you appoint one Chinese [DPM], you also need to appoint one from the Indian community as they are the third largest race in the country,” he added.
He also said Anwar should not be named as the nation’s next prime minister as the latter was a convicted criminal.
“When you put convicted criminals in the Cabinet, the people may not accept it. Pakatan has lost its sense of responsibility by naming Anwar as the future prime minister,” he added.
Jaringan Melayu Malaysia president Azwan Din Hamzah said Pakatan could only dream of attaining federal power as its component party leaders had different ideas for Malaysia.
“Even for the proposed Umno-PAS unity talks, PAS spiritual leader [Niz Aziz Nik Mat] has a different idea from the party president [Abdul Hadi Awang],” he added.
Azwan was also opposed to the idea of having three DPMs, saying it would cause power struggle in the government.
“Each DPM will try to impose his ideology in the government which will result in chaos. At the end, it will be the people who will suffer,” he warned.
