Don't spread lies about gov't, pasar malam traders warned

Pasar malam (night market) traders in Kuala Lumpur has been warned not to spread lies or slander the government.

Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said instead, the traders should act as good intermediary for the government and say good things.

“I plead to you, as organisers of pasar malam, please play your role as the intermediary between the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, the government and the people. You meet the people everyday and I plead to you to talk good things (about the government).

“Sometimes when we are angry and there is something upsetting us, we become intermediary or disseminate information which we are not satisfied with. But what is disseminated is not what the government had done,” he said.

Tengku Adnan, who is also Umno secretary-general, said this at the launch of 'Transformation of Pasar Malam' at the PKNS flats near Jalan Kuching today.
