Flashmobs against GST to mark first anniversary on April 1

It has been one year since the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax and Pakatan Harapan Youth will be marking the date on April 1 with a series of flashmobs across the country.
PKR deputy youth chief Afif Bahardin said that despite the government having introduced collection of the six percent tax, it has still failed to resolve the people’s plight in terms of the rising cost of living.
"Why do we chose April 1? It is the first anniversary of the GST was enforced.
"So far the BN government has yet to resolve issues facing the people," Afif told a press conference at PKR'S headquarters here today.
He also said that the flashmobs were to mobilise youth support for a bigger 'Abolish GST' rally on April 2.
"Our focus is on anti-GST and supporting the call for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's resignation.
"The flashmobs will be held at selected locations across the country and we urge all Malaysians to be in solidarity and wear black throughout April 1 and April 2," he said.
Institutional reforms
Afif said the flashmobs and the gathering were part of the larger 'Save Malaysia' effort, which calls for Najib to resign and make way for institutional reforms.
"After the flashmobs, we will continue to gather (overnight) at the designated location for the April 2 rally.
"It will be a festival kind of gathering," he added.
It was previously announced that Pakatan Harapan will be organising a Save Malaysia Consensus rally on March 28 at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council field.
The Abolish GST rally, meanwhile, will be staged on April 2 at Dataran Merdeka. -Mkini
