Rosmah told me 'KISS' due to heatwave, says Najib

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said his wife Rosmah Mansor advised him to keep his speech at the National Police Day celebrations in Kuala Lumpur brief due to the blistering heat.
"Before I got up to give a speech, my wife told me 'KISS'. Turns out ‘KISS’ means ‘keep it short and sweet’," he quipped.
The prime minister said this was appropriate as it would be unfair to the police personnel lining up in the heat if he spoke for too long.
Several police personnel taking part in the parade had already fainted from the heat before Najib spoke.
It is understood that 15 police personnel in total passed out during the event.
During his brief speech, Najib thanked the police for keeping the country safe from security threats.
He also spoke about the serious need to reduce the number of traffic accidents in the country.
“Six thousand, one hundred and ninety three people died from road accidents last year. Imagine if you multiply that by five years, the number of deceased victims would be the same size as Stadium Merdeka,” he said.
He said this in conjunction with the setting up of the new Police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT)
The parade ended some 15 minutes later after a quick launching ceremony for JSPT, a renewal of the police oaths and the singing of the police anthem. -Mkini
