STATE POLLS | PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abd Halim has urged young voters to go for election ceramah in their respective areas before casting their ballots in the six state elections this Saturday.
This, according to the deputy youth and sports minister, is because going to the ground and listening to the speeches of electoral candidates would help voters make informed decisions.
"The campaigning period gives youngsters the chance to get a clearer picture about their candidates, or political parties, compared to what they see or hear on social media.
"They (voters) can get the real picture, make comparisons, make judgements - these are among the important elements," Adam Adli (above) told Malaysiakini.
Therefore, he hoped that the youth will spend the next few days of campaigning before polling day to go to ceramah to get the larger picture.
A total of 661,905 youths aged between 18 and 20 are eligible to vote in the six state elections.
The biggest chunk of the voters is from Selangor (274,194), followed by Kedah (104,284), Kelantan (96,513), Penang (67,633), Terengganu (64,264), and Negeri Sembilan (55,017).
Meanwhile, Adam Adli, who is also Hang Tuah Jaya MP, reminded young voters to not be influenced by negative campaigning.
"We are having the elections to find a leader, not a fighter." - Mkini
