Pig's head found outside PN operations room

STATE POLLS | A pig’s head was discovered outside a Perikatan Nasional operations room for the Juasseh seat in Negeri Sembilan. The decapitated head was placed on top of a PN flag.

According to PN’s candidate for the seat, Eddin Syazlee Shith, he was alerted about the matter at about 8.30am this morning.

The Kuala Pilah Bersatu chief claimed that a similar incident occurred at the residence of one of his officers.

A police report has been lodged on the matter and Kuala Pilah district police chief Amran Mohd Ghani said the case is being investigated.

Speaking to reporters, Eddin refused to point fingers, stating that the sensitivities of all quarters should be safeguarded.

“This is how it is in politics. We expected worse things to happen. It’s fine, we shall remain calm.

“I believe these are attempts to divert attention from the state elections.

“It could also be the actions of those who are desperate. We consider this as part of the challenge,” he was quoted as saying by Astro Awani.

Eddin, a former deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of economic affairs, also advised the PN machinery to remain positive and refrain from immature politics.

“In my ceramah last night, I advised my machinery to put up our opponent’s flags if they have fallen. We want a healthy and positive political culture.

“... However, if there are those who still want to use such (immature) tactics, it brings shame to their religion and race, as well as (having an impact) on the future of our children who see such negative things,” he added.

‘Very disappointing’

Meanwhile, the candidate’s brother, Edden Amru Shith, said the head was discovered at 7.30am.

“Our staff first found the pig’s head when they reported for work. It may have happened in the wee hours as our staff last left the office at about 4.30am the same morning.

"It is very disappointing that things have turned out this way. This shouldn’t happen as everyone has been preaching about practising healthy politics.

"What happened is very unprofessional," he told The Star.

Edden also claimed that PN flags and banners in the area were also vandalised several days earlier.

Eddin will be facing BN’s Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid in a straight fight for the Juasseh seat. The seat has always been an Umno stronghold. - Mkini
