My Comments: There are 59 hostages left of which 24 are alive and 35 are dead bodies. These remaining hostages will not be released. The Israelis have given up on these hostages being released. The Israelis also dont care anymore if the remaining hostages are not released.

This looks like the reality now. 

The size of the Gaza Strip has shrunk considerably with the Israelis establishing a wide evacuation zone around Gaza. See the pink area in the map below. No people are allowed to live inside the evacuation zone anymore.

The Gaza Strip has also been subdivided into five segments with movement between the segments strictly controlled by the Israelis. (Map below).

I assume there are barricades and roadblocks which are used to control the movement of people between these five segments.

This is exactly how prisons are managed all over the world. They divide the inmates / people into areas or segments divided by physical barriers (barbed wire, fencing, walls, roadblocks, checkpoints etc). 

This way a small number of prison guards can keep a large number of people under strict control. Movement is restricted and the people are only allowed to move across segments with very good reasons. Otherwise you just stay inside your area.
