Amanah has challenged the opposition to bring forth better initiatives before calling on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to step down.
This followed the premier's announcement of financial aid for all citizens yesterday, ahead of the opposition’s “Turun Anwar” rally set for Saturday.
"Thank you to the prime minister for all the gifts in conjunction with the upcoming Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day.
"To opposition parties that are planning a demonstration against the prime minister this weekend, I dare you to present initiatives that are better (than what Anwar had announced).
"Before you call for the prime minister to resign, you should also reveal your prime minister candidate," said Amanah secretary-general Faiz Fadzil in a statement.
‘Reject desperate act’
He also advised Perikatan Nasional to go through the proper democratic channel to change the government.
Attempting to bring down a government mid-term through street protests or "tebuk atap" (using backdoor) is not in line with the principles of democracy, Faiz (above) stressed.
"The 'Turun Anwar' demonstration shows that PN does not respect the people's mandate.
"The rakyat should reject the opposition's desperate act. They should take an example from Pakatan Harapan, which waited for an election to change government," he added.

Anwar revealed a series of financial aid yesterday, including a reduced petrol price for Malaysians at RM1.99 per litre by the end of September.
In addition, Malaysians aged 18 and above will receive a one-off RM100 Rahmah Necessities Aid, and there will be an additional public holiday on Sept 15.
The toll charges at 10 highways will also not be increased for this year, which will cost the government RM500 million.
Not much for the youth
Bersatu’s young women's wing had dismissed the initiatives, saying they would not have an impact on the youth’s struggles.
Its vice-chief Nabila Norsahar said the assistance would not bring any meaningful change as they do not create more quality job opportunities, reduce housing costs, or ease the people's access to business capital.

"Does the government even realise that many youths have to do two to three jobs just to survive?
"Youths today do not want handouts. We want a comprehensive economic policy. We want clear long-term planning, not a mere temporary figure that is aimed at appeasing online criticisms.
"The ‘Turun Anwar’ rally this July 26 will go on. It is not just to protest against an individual, but also to serve as a clear message to the government that the rakyat, especially youths, are tired of being played," she said. - Mkini
