The appeal was filed against Tengku Nizaruddin Zainudin, 38, and his younger brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, 30, who were sentenced on July 25, Bernama quoted the AGC as saying.
Both brothers had pleaded guilty under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to a public servant.
The case had drawn a lot of attention after the influencer’s car was found submerged in a river and a desperate search was launched for his body.
Investigations later revealed the influencer, who is also a businessman and vehicle accessories shop owner, had fled to a neighbouring country.
Tengku Abdul Aziz had filed a report at the Lenga police station claiming that his brother had gone missing while heading to Muar to repair his car. - FMT
