PUTRAJAYA: The government would not block a vote of confidence from being held in Parliament, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim amid calls from the opposition for him to step down.
He said he had informed Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul to allow such a motion to proceed if tabled.
"If there is a motion today, the very first day of Parliament, I will wait for the vote of no confidence. If they have the majority, go ahead. That is our system," he said during the Prime Minister's Department monthly assembly.
He said that attempts to remove the government outside of constitutional means would violate the law and threaten national stability. - NST
