SUNGAI PETANI: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly tied up and bullied by two classmates in a school bathroom, believed to be driven by jealousy.

The Form One student was found with her hands and feet bound with a necktie, and her mouth covered, in an incident that is said to have taken place on Monday at a secondary school here.

The incident came to light when the victim's mother, who had been waiting outside the school, noticed her daughter failed to exit the school compound as usual after classes ended at 6.30pm.

Together with a school security guard, the mother began searching the premises and eventually discovered the girl in the school bathroom.

The victim sustained minor injuries to her hands and feet and was later taken to the hospital for treatment.

She is also reported to be traumatised by the ordeal.

A police report was subsequently lodged by her mother.

Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan confirmed that two 13-year-old students have been detained to assist with the investigation.

"The incident did occur in the school's bathroom, and jealousy is believed to be the motive behind the bullying," he said.

Both suspects have confessed to the act, citing jealousy as the reason behind their actions.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt. - NST
