
KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking a group of individuals suspected of being involved in a riot and attacking three men using weapons in Selayang Jaya, Batu Caves, near here at midnight last night.
Gombak police chief ACP Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said they received information at 12.20am about a fight that occurred about 10 minutes earlier.
He said the brawl seemingly involved two groups of local men whose identities are still unknown.
"The three victims are aged between 18 and 36. They suffered injuries and were taken to Selayang Hospital," he said in a statement yesterday.
He added that the group of suspects was believed to have attacked the victims with weapons, while the motive for the rioting has yet to be identified.
"The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code (voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons) and Section 148 of the Penal Code (rioting while armed with a deadly weapon).
