WHY ARE SOME BN LEADERS AFRAID TO MAKE OPEN DECLARATION?

1. In the last few weeks, I have openly condemned the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency’s (MACC) inaction over the NFC Scandal and the blazen shameless admission of acceptance of gratification by Awang Adek. Since then, Malaysians have witnessed another “rejected” Minister, Azalina Othman Said, making a similar admission.

2. It seems that instead of being embarrassed, apologetic and standing down from public office, these shameless BN ministers are being emboldened to use the propaganda tools of their party and the mainstream media to make their misconducts look innocent. Like most Malaysians, I am appalled and find this most repulsive.

3. My call for Shahrizat and Awang Adek to resign from all posts in the party and the government is exactly to prevent what is happening now. I knew they would use all their resources to spin fabulous stories of how they have been victimized and how the whole fiasco is a misunderstanding.

4. You can clearly see that happening when Perkasa’s Ibrahim Ali comes to Shahrizat’s defence and tries to make the Auditor-General a political scapegoat. You then see the jantan minister Nazri Aziz explaining why there cannot be a public declaration of assets by those holding high public office. To make it appear that the Chinese community also share this “aspiration” for secrecy, Nazri’s deputy, VK Liew, echoes his boss’s sentiments by saying that that it is inappropriate for the MACC to keep records of properties of ministers and deputy ministers.

5. That to me amounts to abusing the 1Malysia concept to cover up for wrong doings by government leaders. That is against the Islamic principles of “Amr Ma’aruf Nahy Mungkar” i.e. encourage righteousness and discourage evil. That it is done by the highest echelons of our government leaders is public display of arrogance of the highest order.

6. Let us remind ourselves that Teoh Beng Hock died over allegations of a mere RM 2,400/-. Ahmad Sarbaini died because of similar minor allegations which until today have just gone silent. Yet, when the riches of the powerful are involved, the MACC either drag its feet or behave like eunuchs emasculated of all their powers. I ask the MACC – why the discrimination?

7. But I cannot stomach it if so called Chinese leaders like VK Liew speaks with a forked tongue just to please his political masters. Let me say this to VK Liew - “IF YOU HAVE TO FART, PLEASE DO IT IN THE COMFORT AND PRIVACY OF YOUR HOME. IF YOU HAVE MUCH TO HIDE, THEN QUIT”

8. It is on record and for reasons best known to MACC, they had acted in a very high handed manner against Lawyer Rosli Dahlan in asking him to declare his assets whereas he had never even served in any public office. He had been a private practitioner all along and despite his innocence, he was humiliated, abused and charged just because he acted professionally to defend his client. Yet, we now have a senior UMNO Minister and his Chinese deputy saying that MACC cannot be entitled to keep records of Ministers’ wealth. What is it that these UMNO and BN Chinese leaders so afraid of in making and open declaration of their wealth if all their accumulated wealth are legitimate?

9. I wish to remind VK Liew that he is elected by the people to serve in public office and his salary comes from law-abiding taxpayers.The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president is therefore accountable to the people at all times and can be made answerable the MACC when needed. If you have nothing to hide or what the Chinese would say, “Something that cannot see the daylight”, then what is there to fear?

10. As a former MACC advisory panel member, I fully support MACC Advisory Panel Chairman, Zaitun Zawiyah Puteh, over the commission’s proposal to the government as follows:

a) to obtain a copy of the declaration of assets of Cabinet members and their spouses and other family members;

b) that a copy of the declaration of assets of all members of the federal administration be given to the commission;

c) that their spouses and other family members be required to disclose their assets through a statutory declaration and a record of it be kept by the MACC.

11. It is most appropriate for MACC to know the assets of all who hold high public office. That is what accountability and transparency is about in the public sector. Liew is, therefore, seriously flawed in his argument that MACC’s main role is only to receive and investigate complaints on corruption in the country.

12. To be an effective enforcement agency, the MACC must have reliable records to enable it to gather reliable and solid evidence for a successful prosecution. If Liew, cannot understand such basic logic in the fight against corruption, it is time for him to step down or for the people to elect another more intelligent leader.

This morning, Datuk Ahirudin “Rocky’s Bru” Attan case brought by the suit by then Dark Lord of NST Kalimullah “Riong Kali” Masheerul Hassan and three others exactly five years ago came to an amicable end.  Rocky apologised “For the considerable distress, embarrassment and inconvenience caused to the plaintiffs” as a result of some of the things I’d written about them on my blog”.

Former NST journo who was ostracised during Dark Lord Riong Kali’s tenure had his analysis on the out of court settlement this morning, which actually resulted from the latter’s apology to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for thelies on his News Sunday Times article “And, really, who is demonizing whom?” on 11 June 2006. That lie brought the articles by posted Rocky and another blogger Jeff Ooi, who is now DAP MP for Jelutong calling Riong Kali a ‘Liar’.

Apology by Blogger Ahirudin Attan to Datuk Syed Albar, Datuk Hishamuddin Aun, Brenden Perera and Dato Seri Kalimullah Hassan

On behalf of my friends and former colleagues — Datuk Syed Faisal Albar, Datuk Hishamuddin Aun and Brenden Perera — all of us are glad that this unpleasant episode in our lives has come to an end. It is something that should not have happened and it is something that caused undue stress, damage and anguish to our families, friends and us personally and professionally.

We accept the apology by Ahirudin Attan and his expression of regrets at the damage, distress and embarrassment he has caused not only to us but also our families and friends. The repeated lies over a long period of time and the unfairness of it all led us to the painful step of filing the legal suit against Ahirudin to clear our names and reputation. Having come from the same Press fraternity, it was not a decision we took lightly when we went to the courts to seek justice.

We would like to put this incident behind us and move on.

As for me personally, this is the sixth apology I have received in less than 12 months — from DAP MP for Jelutong and blogger Jeff Ooi, the New Straits Times, Berita Harian, Utusan Malaysia, Matthias Chang, the former political secretary to Tun Mahathir Mohamad, and now Ahirudin Attan — for publishing defamatory and libellous statements against me. It re-establishes my faith that eventually the truth will prevail and that justice will be done.

Riong Kali conveniently did not mention that part of the settlement reached recently in the suit and counter suit with Matthias Chang, that he had to apologise to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. His apology to Tun Dr Mahathir was the pertinent point that the last two suit cases managed to be ‘resolved amicably’. The fact is that, Tun Dr Mahathir was never part in any of these legal cases between Riong Kali and Rocky, Ooi and Chang but he had to apologise.

Why did Riong Kali conveniently miss that apology to Tun Dr Mahathir out?

This is the sort of weasel Riong Kali is. Even at this point, he was not willing to tell the whole truth. That is not withstanding the scum that he real is.

Jui Meng slams 'snake-in-the-grass' MCA for helping Perkasa stage white ang-pows fiasco

So, finally it has been confirmed. The MCA has its sticky hands all over the white 'ang-pows' issue. But worse than Ibrahim Ali, who distributed cash to senior citizens in these 'pak kam' or funeral envelopes instead of using the traditional red packets, the MCA tried to pretend it was not involved.

And like a snake in the grass, Labis MP Chua Tee Yong even slammed Malay rights group Perkasa for the faux pas, when all the while there were MCA leaders who had helped to organize the event.

"Perkasa should have been aware. They should have learnt the practices of another race before organising such an event, so that they did not upset anyone,” said Tee Yong, the son of MCA president Chua Soi Lek, who has maintained a deafening silence while the community raged at what they perceived to be the ultimate insult.

For the issue is not just about an ancient taboo or superstition, it was the blatant and ruthless abuse by the MCA and Perkasa of the community's senior citizens.

"If this is not betrayal, I don't what is. If Soi Lek and Tee Yong are not careful, people will say they are capable of selling their own grandmothers to stay in power," condemned PKR vice president Chua Jui Meng.

Snake in the grass

Indeed, Tee Yoong's slick words aimed to give the impression that he was on the side of his community and firing at full ballast at the 'rotten and racist' ultra rights group Perkasa sickened many who knew the truth behind the incident.

MCA Seputeh division committee member Collin Tiew has confessed that he had helped organize Perkasa's Chinese New Year gathering and brought along at least 50 senior citizens.

“I have been made a victim for bringing some 50 people to Perkasa's Chinese New Year open house in Kampung Baru on Sunday. It was not my intention to offend anyone. If my action has hurt the people's feelings, I would like to apologise to the Chinese community," said Collin, who s also the MCA Sri Desa branch chief.

Collin's involvement also confirms the sad suspicions that MCA has all along been playing a double or even triple game to dupe the Chinese community.

In 2008, the party was severely punished by its core electorate for subjugating their rights to Umno's. MCA leaders were accused and declared guilty by Chinese voters of putting their personal interest and cushy government jobs ahead of Chinese rights such as fighting for fairer distribution of scholarships, licences, business and educational opportunities.

Soi Lek has denied this, always blaming opposition "spin" and "lies" for his party's own woes. To revive confidence, he has waged a fight for greater economic rights with Umno and Perkasa, demanding that a long-held 30% quota for Malays be dropped.

However, the extent of this fight is always limited and MCA always stops when given a final reprimand from Umno, prompting Malaysians to suspect that it was all a "sandiwara" or playacting.

MCA's 'independence' proven to be a 'sandiwara'

Collin's collaboration with Perkasa, although he claims he has never met Ibrahim Ali before, shows that MCA, Umno and Perkasa do work hand in hand together.

This despite, Perkasa staging a shaming and noisy demonstration last year, calling Soi Lek and the Chinese party all sorts of insulting names including "Porn King" to convince the Malays that it was doing its job as a fierce defender of Malay rights, while the MCA 'co-starred' to convince the Chinese that it was championing their rights.

"I do not endorse what he said, I merely translated it," was Collin's giveaway when asked why he took part in the Perkasa event to the extent that he went on stage and gave a speech.

"If Ibrahim did this for his personal agenda, then I regret it. I am being condemned, I'm a victim of this incident,” was Collin's rather lame apology.

Exploited and manipulated once too often

But Collin is wrong. He is not the victim. The Malaysian Chinese are the victims - the victims of the MCA's lies and manipulation of the past decades. And this is why there was such a furore.

"People get fed up of being used and exploited year in, year out. The MCA has gone too far this time. It has pricked its own bubble and the pus is spurting all over. Nobody wants to go near it, Malaysians want a clean country. We want a real country, not a make-believe world and definitely not sandiwara," PKR vice president Chua Jui Meng toldMalaysia Chronicle.

THE REAL RELA $15 BILLION SCAM!

"Datuk Seri Najib Razak today issued an open warning to would-be demonstrators, saying that the paramilitary People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA) was ready to defend the country from turmoil. Speaking in front of an estimated 20,000 Rela members here, the prime minister pledged his administration’s commitment to look after the interests and welfare of the corps.

“When the chips are down, RELA will be with this government to defend the country. Do not cause havoc in this country because the 2.8 million RELA members will not stand idly by and watch the country descend into chaos,” he said to a chorus of approval from the audience." Malaysian Insider 28/01/2012.

Firstly, assuming Najib has been quoted correctly, 2.8 million RELA members constitutes more than 10% of the population of Malaysia!  

Wow, that's an incredible statistic by any standard, is it not?

We need 2.8 million RELA members to monitor 2 million illegal immigrants, and possibly snoop on Iranian drug kingpins and their Malaysian mules, not to mention the Nigerian con artistes who have made Malaysia their lovely home away from home due to some very compliant on the spot visa issuing officers at KLIA and the Malaysian High Commission in Abuja?

I wonder, I just wonder if we employ 2.8 million police personnel in Malaysia?

Answer: After googling, it would appear that as of 2007, the police force numbered 150,000 with plans to increase it by 60,000. So, we can now safely assume that number is about 200,000 police officers vs 2.8 million RELA members. Does this make sense to anyone?

And you can bet your bottom dollar that with UMNO and Najibs' NEP preferred policy of quantity over quality, the vast majority of RELA members will be SPM Grade 3 or 4 achievers.

Ours is one of the few countries in the world where failure and mediocrity is repeatedly rewarded with largesse and riches financed by mugging the taxpayers continuously.

Next, let's do some simple arithmetic. 

Assuming each RELA member is paid an average allowance (RELA members are not entitled to any salary) of only $300 per month, that amounts to:

a. $840,000,000 or $840 million per month, OR

b. $10,080,000,000 or about $10 BILLION per year!!!!

And Najib just gave them a 50% increase in their allowance rate from $4 per hour to $6 per hour. 

This means the cost to the Malaysian Taxpayer will rise to $1.26 BILLION per month or $15.12 BILLION per year!!!! 

I have worked on average figures. Surely there are senior RELA officers who earn more, which will push the financial burden up even further.

Where is the money coming from and really going to?  Can anyone confirm if a humongous printing press contract was recently awarded to an UMNO/Najib croney?

The Government (according to our home grown Kelabit Christian Bumiputra scam artiste, Roti Jala) can't subsidise Education, Health, Welfare (but can subsidise, $10 billion per year to IPP's, Petronas bailout of Tenaga for $2 billion due to managment fuckups and inflated $ 9 billion unwanted Banting-Taiping 60-year toll highways) but somehow can find the $10-15 billion a year to empoy part-time RELA members? And Roti Jala says 10% GST is inevitable?

What a Towering Glocal world record breaking RIP OFF! 

So, how and what should we read into this latest posturing from our flip-flopping/ U-turning Prime Minister?

Firstly, "When the chips are down, RELA will be with this government to defend the country. Do not cause havoc in this country because the 2.8 million RELA members will not stand idly by and watch the country descend into chaos," is a clear threat aimed at stifling opposition to the Police State that Najib is intent on creating, if it has not already been achieved.

Let's be very, very clear. RELA is not Constitutionally empowered to defend the country. That is the role of the Army. You don't engage rank baton wielding amateurs to defend us against another improbable invasion by Indonesia or Japan.

Assuming electoral reforms are not put in place before GE 13, then Bersih 3.0 is a looming reality. Of course, Bersih 3.0 organizers will apply to the police to hold their rally under the Peaceful Assembly Act and the police will respond kindly and positively and say, yes, go ahead, you can hold in Gong Badak Stadium in Terengganu in 2020, provided Perkasa and UMNO can have their opposing rallies in KLCC. So, caring, evenhanded and totally objective will our IGP be.

Either way, UMNO and Najib will lose as they did locally and internationally vis-a-vis Bersih 2.0 and the Anwar Ibrahim persecution, trial and innocent verdict. Because Najib misread the sign and tidal wave of our times and exercised pathetically poor, but predictable, discretion.

So, Najib thinks that his sabre rattling and exhortation of all these SPM Grade 3 holders will put real fear in the hearts of Malaysians? Once again he's behaving like a school playground bully, displaying the IQ and the mental equivalence of Quasimodo's hump, and being spineless about it as well.

And we ain't buying it. Not today. Worse dictators and despots have issued worse threats. We shall not be moved by the demented, craven and cowardly ravings and threats of this "economy transforming" con artiste and urban terrorist of the 3rd kind, i.e. the one we all laugh about and would piss on if he came within 5 feet of our shadows. No Prime Minister worth his salt anywhere would behave in this thuggish, unsophisticated fashion. Adat Istiadat? He hasn't a clue!

Let me issue my own warning to you:

Najib Tun Razak, unelected serially lying Prime Minister of Malaysia, WE, the citizens of Malaysia, will stand firm, and together whip your butt just as we did those fat and chubby school playground mama's boy bullies of our times!

Kit Siang dares MCA Gang of Four to raise NFC issue at Cabinet meeting

Just before the Chinese New Year, the MCA President Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek gave an interview where he blamed the Barisan Nasional government, “particularly embattled minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abd Jalil”, for the “poor handling” of the RM330 million “cattle condo” scandal, causing the public to perceive the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) project as “real rotten”.

If the MCA President is right, then the four MCA Ministers must also bear full responsibility as they have allowed the RM330 million “cattle condo” to drag on for three months in the public limelight, with the relentless expose of one abuse of power and misuse of public funds after another, without any rebuttal and providing no light whatsoever “at the end of the tunnel”!

In fact, as it is more than six months since the completion and submission to the government of the Auditor-General’s Report 2010 in early July last year which led to the expose of the “terrible mess” of the NFC scandal, Malaysians are entitled to an explanation why the Cabinet (including the four MCA Ministers) had been sleeping on their jobs to get to the very bottom of the NFC scandal?

In view of the MCA President’s statement blaming the “rotten mess” of the NFC scandal on Barisan Nasional’s “poor handling”, are the four MCA Ministers prepared to make amends for their ministerial cowardice and irresponsibility by speaking up in first post-Chinese New Year Cabinet meeting for full public transparency and accountability for the RM330 million “cattle condo” scandal?

Let Malaysians, for instance, know when the Auditor-General’s Report 2010 was first tabled in the Cabinet, when the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (who was the Minister for Agriculture and Agros-based Industries in 2006 who approved the NFC project) and the current Minister for Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries respectively received their copies of the Auditor-General’s Report 2010?

Are the four MCA Ministers prepared to make clear at the forthcoming Cabinet meeting that it is most disgraceful for the Najib administration, with the slogan of “People’s First, Performance Now”, unable to satisfactorily handle the RM330 million “cattle condo” scandal to match the pledges of public accountability, transparency and integrity after more than three months of public uproar and more than six months of completion of the Auditor-General’s Report?

Are the four MCA Ministers brave enough to raise in the Cabinet the fact that Malaysians have no faith in either the police or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to get to the bottom of the RM330 million “cattle condo” and that the only credible and acceptable solution is the formation of a Royal Commission of Inquiry to conduct a full-fledged inquiry?

Will the four MCA Ministers demand in Cabinet that Shahrizat should extend her leave as Minister for Women, Family and Community Development when her three-week leave expires this Friday, if not to resign altogether from her Cabinet post to allow for unimpeded investigations into the “cattle condo” scandal?

Also, will the four MCA Ministers get the Cabinet to issue a clear statement that it welcomes the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee conducting full and wide-ranging investigations into the “cattle condo” scandal, promising full co-operation from all Cabinet Ministers and public officers, past and present – so as to circumvent the objection of the PAC Chairman Datuk Azmi Khalid in allowing a PAC investigation?
