Blogger slams BN parties for silence over 1MDB, Najib

MCA, Gerakan, PPP and MIC can close shop and kiss each other goodbye if they continue to protect Najib, says Firdaus Abdullah who blogs at Apanama.

PETALING JAYA: Former New Straits Times political editor Firdaus Abdullah has launched a scathing attack on Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties for their silence over the state of the nation.

Firdaus, who blogs as Apanama said that the BN’s 12 component parties minus Umno have almost completely lost their voice of reason over the years.

In his latest blogpost, he questioned how the 12 component parties, including those from Sabah and Sarawak could afford to keep mum over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal in which Prime Minister and Umno president Najib Razak was directly involved and implicated in.

He said many among the 12 parties refused to even talk about 1MDB and brushed it off as Umno’s internal problems.

“Are the twelve others, including those from Sarawak and Sabah, truly ignorant or are they playing dumb due to the overwhelming influence and pressure from Cash… the King?”

Firdaus said last week’s inking of the Citizens’ Declaration had reinforced the fact that the scandal and other issues were not merely Umno’s internal problems but a national disaster.

He said the Citizen’s Declaration went beyond partisan politics and was about the well-being of the nation and its people.

The declaration, Firdaus wrote, was about “the need and ability to remove a rogue leader” without having to topple the entire elected government.

He said Umno was in the hands of a small group of hijackers, and expressed his disappointment at the “other 12″ in the ruling coalition who had failed to stand up for the very people whom they claimed to be representing.

Firdaus also asked if these 12 had been reduced to being nothing more than Najib’s “errant boys.”

“MCA, Gerakan, PPP and MIC can close shop and kiss each other goodbye if they continue to protect Najib,” he said, adding that Sarawak BN parties risked losing votes in the coming state election over their continued association with Najib.

Firdaus said Malaysians could not possibly trust or forgive BN leaders who hid behind excuses of not wanting to interfere in a component party’s problems when the nation was being raped and plundered.

“Agreeing to disagree is yet another fallacy when it’s about theft, treason and crime against the state.”
