YOURSAY | 'Why is S’wak BN ashamed to be linked to 1MDB? You should be proud of PM's brainchild...'
Anonymous_1377321471: One is a non-issue to begin with. The other a mega scandal widely known around the world. Whether there is a link or no link, it is up to the people to judge.
Southpaw: Parti Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak (PBB) information chief Peter Minos, I implore you to link DAP Sarawak to the false accusation involving their secretary-general Lim Guan Eng. We will be very happy to see voters' opinions on this.
By the way, have you taken your waiting number to bow down to Najib? Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem has already done it. So much for the self-determination he's always talking about.
Mojo Jojo: Please, PBB, how are these two things comparable? The activities of 1MDB are shrouded in a thick smog of secrecy, while Guan Eng's gesture of opening his house to reporters and his willingness to cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is as transparent as it can be.
In any case, linking 1MDB and Adenan is one thing; what about the link between former CM Abdul Taib Mahmud and Adenan?
Senior Citizen: Why is Sarawak BN is so ashamed to be linked to 1MDB? You should be proud of Prime Minister Najib Razak's brainchild.
Pahatian: These PBB/BN leaders are like the Umnos of Malaya and Sabah - no brains. 1MDB is not only a national issue, but also an international one for that matter.
It affects everyone on the street, the nation, the economy and of course the integrity of the PM himself. So why bring up Guan Eng's case in the Sarawak polls?
And for that matter too, Guan Eng has explained clearly about the house purchase and even wanted to sue the person who made the allegation if the latter dares to repeat what he said outside of Parliament.
Does the main actor in the 1MDB scandals dare to explain clearly the money trails and sue The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and Sarawak Report?
Anonymous_1431954960: If you don't want the rakyat to link you to Kuala Lumpur's BN, then cut ties with the BN president. If you can't even do a simple thing like that, how can you solve really big issues?
True, we must also 'tekan' (pressure) Guan Eng and ask him to pack his bag and retire from politics for good to save Malaysia as he no longer seems to be clean.
But you shouldn't ask his father Kit Siang to retire as he's a man of a different category.
Odin Tajué: Peter Minos, there is a vast difference between Najib's scandal and Guan Eng's.
In Najib's case, circumstantial evidence overwhelmingly points to guilt or culpability, whereas in Guan Eng's case, there are only allegations and which are devoid of any kind of
evidence whatsoever to render them (the allegations) even worthy of consideration.
The accuser has not even dared to face Guan Eng in person, and, doubtless, will have no bollocks to utter his allegation outside Parliament.
Anonyxyz: Are the majority of Malaysians that vulnerable to such propaganda that they cannot see the difference between obvious corruption and scandals by BN and indecent accumulated wealth and imaginary donations to the tune of millions, to be clouded by unproven and malicious accusations generated in the mass media over a negotiated purchase of a 'nothing to shout about' house?
If they are clouded by such political gimmicks, nothing can save Malaysia from being governed by a Umno-dominated BN.
Even former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad is now reduced to a punching bag, how much more can a small fry like Guan Eng defend himself from them? Let's wait and see.
Basically: Guan Eng's issue is his own business, which can be resolved with either the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) or Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
The 1MDB issue concerns the country's financial integrity and our economy, just to pick one national implication.
Sarawak is one of BN"s major fixed deposits that keeps the minority government in power. So why shouldn't voters link 1MDB to the Sarawak election? Is Sarawak an independent state? Are you suggesting treason, Minos?
Speaking Sense: With such idiocy, it is no wonder Minos has got nowhere in politics after all these years of lapping after successive PBB leaders. While to be part of a corrupt tuai rumah's (village chief) longhouse may not be by choice, to be part of Najib's BN is.
So if Najib/BN/1MDB is accused of being corrupt, then those who choose to be part of this have chosen to be part of that allegation and must be made to justify their choice.
You can't have your cake and eat it. And, by the way, it is an advantage and no disgrace for DAP Sarawak to be linked to Guan Eng - he is not facing any charges or investigation in the RM2.6 billion and RM42 million scandals.
Disgusted: These people have created a fictional "corruption case" against Guan Eng and MACC has been quick to probe the false claims, and frivolous police reports were made by BN's minions.
Now it has become a national issue to throw the scent off the mother of all scandals in Malaysia, 1MDB, as well as alleged misused of rakyat's money by various institutions such as Tabung Haji, government pension fund KWAP, Mara and Felda.
They have even gone to the point of saying that former Selangor MB Mohamed Khir Toyo's corruption was minor compared with Guan Eng's purchase of a simple bungalow. Khir Toyo's massive mansion was valued at RM16 million compared with Guan Eng's RM2.5 million.
You can't even buy a semi-detached house in Bangsar or Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Klang Valley for RM2.5 million. It is like comparing a papaya with a durian.
Done: 1MDB is a "KL issue", says Minos. Is Najib Malaysia's prime minister or KL's prime minister? -Mkini
