BUDGET 2024 | The federal government will start transitioning its official vehicles from using internal combustion engine automobiles to electric cars beginning next year.
Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim in his Budget 2024 speech said that this is a part of the government's efforts towards lowering the country's carbon emission.
"Putrajaya will be Malaysia's low-carbon model city.
"The government will start installing solar panels on the roof of government buildings, with the cooperation of TNB and Gentari.
"The federal administration will also start using electric vehicles as its official cars," he said.
According to Anwar, the government will enhance its efforts towards encouraging the rakyat to install solar panels at their premises.
This includes by extending its Net Energy Metering programme until the end of next year and developing a buyback programme for solar on rooftops. - Mkini
