KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man was today sentenced to six years in prison and one stroke of the cane by the sessions court here for robbing a man at knife-point of RM50 last week.
Judge Norina Zainol Abidin meted out the sentence on M Krishnamurthi, 49, who pleaded guilty to the robbery charge.
He was charged with robbing Chai Fuh Chang, 43, at the Jinjang MRT motorcycle parking lot here at 11.55am on Dec 7.
The charge was framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code which provides imprisonment for up to 14 years and a fine or whipping upon conviction.
Krishnamurthi was ordered to serve his jail term from the date of his arrest, Dec 7.
Deputy public prosecutor Illya Syaheedah Razif prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. - FMT
