PETALING JAYA: A criminal case involving an aide to Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari has been postponed to a later date.
Jay Jay Denis, Amirudin’s press secretary, was supposed to appear at the Alor Gajah sessions court today to be charged over a tweet on Melaka governor Ali Rustam.
In a posting on X last night, Jay Jay said he was informed that the case slated for this morning had been postponed.
“Thank you to everyone for all your support and prayers. I have high hopes that Malaysia will continue to mature,” he said.
On Tuesday, Jay Jay said the cops told him to appear in court to face charges under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for allegedly making statements conducing to public mischief.
He was arrested by police last year following the lodging of a report over his tweet.
The report was believed to be in connection with a video uploaded on Sept 6, 2022, showing Ali’s convoy leaving a restaurant in Medan Damansara, Kuala Lumpur.
In the posting, Jay Jay claimed he had witnessed Ali’s convoy of “eight (police) outriders and three escort vehicles” blocking traffic on the Sprint Highway before making a U-turn, with Ali then emerging from one of the cars.
He claimed that Ali was merely at a restaurant for a family dinner, not an important official function. - FMT
