PETALING JAYA: Police have denied allegations that a station chief in Port Dickson had sexually harassed a woman, following a message that has gone viral on Telegram.
Port Dickson police chief Aidi Sham Mohamed said that on Dec 25, a message was circulated on the application, accusing the Lukut station chief of harassing and sending lewd messages to the woman.
“Preliminary investigations found that the claims were untrue and suspected that it was an attempt to tarnish the reputation of the station chief and his team,” he said in a statement.
He added that, so far, no reports had been made against the police officer, including by the alleged victim.
He said police would conduct an internal investigation into the matter and strict action would be taken if there is any disciplinary violation.
He also urged the public not to spread the viral message, as doing so may result in legal action under the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. - Mkini
