PETALING JAYA: Police will be recording statements from all parties related to an incident involving a 14-year-old schoolboy who allegedly ran away from his boarding school in Cheras last month after being bullied.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Allaudeen Abdul Majid confirmed that the police had received a report filed by the boy’s family at noon yesterday.

He said they would begin taking statements from the boy’s parents and friends as well as the school’s management.

He said the case would be investigated under Section 31 of the Child Act 2001 for exposing a child to danger as to cause him physical or emotional injury, reported Berita Harian.

“The probe is being carried out by Bukit Aman’s sexual, women and child investigation division (D11),” Allaudeen told a press conference.

The boy was reported to have gone missing from his school on Dec 7. He was found in weak condition at a bus stop opposite Masjid Saidina Othman in Bandar Tun Razak.

The boy’s mother, Nurul Shuhada Jamaludin, previously said she would lodge a police report over her son’s case once he reached a stable condition. He received treatment at the Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital in Cheras.

On Dec 9, the education ministry said it would be investigating the incident following reports on the alleged bullying. - FMT
