PETALING JAYA: Dzulkefly Ahmad, who officially begins his duties as health minister once again, has expressed his determination to comprehensively implement the digital health transformation agenda.
He said the transformation efforts would be jointly guided by his deputy, Lukanisman Awang Sauni, and the ministry’s team led by secretary-general Zaini Ujang. However, he did not go into detail.
“I am grateful to the prime minister and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for allowing me to return to steer and guide the health ministry.
“Insya-Allah, with this team, I will shoulder this heavy burden of responsibility,” he told reporters after clocking in at the ministry’s lobby in Putrajaya today, Bernama reported.
Dzulkefly, who arrived at about 8.15am, was greeted by Lukanisman, Zaini and health director-general Dr Radzi Abu Hassan before attending a briefing session with the ministry’s top management.
At a press conference after announcing his new Cabinet line-up yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Dzulkefly was taking over the health portfolio as the unity government required his experience.
Anwar said the health ministry was burdened with many issues, some of which were passed on from previous administrations.
Dzulkefly, who was the health minister under the Pakatan Harapan administration in 2018, took over the health minister’s post from Dr Zaliha Mustafa, who is now the federal territories minister.
Zaliha yesterday said she hoped her successor would work to realise the plans underlined in the health white paper passed in Parliament earlier this year. - FMT
