Sacked Umno supreme council member Isham Jalil has likened party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to a ship captain leading the vessel to its doom.
"We are going on the wrong path. It's like the captain of a ship steering the vessel toward an iceberg.
"If we don't question him (the captain), chances are our families in the ship will perish," he told an interview with TV Pertiwi.
Isham (above, right) claimed that decades of Umno's struggles for the Malays and Islam have been derailed after it started working with DAP in the coalition government.
"I don't agree (with DAP's Malaysian Malaysia concept) because it can destroy the special rights of the Malays.
"They talk about equality. What is equality? If there is equality, then what happens to the Malays' special rights?"
Isham also alleged that anyone who criticises DAP will get the boot from Umno, like himself.
"From my observation, in today's Umno (leadership), if you criticise DAP, you will get sacked like me."
Isham was sacked from Umno on Dec 6 for breaching party rules, including criticising the leadership openly and labelling the party as “barua DAP” (DAP lackey).
Zahid confirmed that Isham was expelled by the supreme council itself, without the need to go through the party disciplinary committee. - Mkini
