KUALA LUMPUR: The 60-storey Ilham Tower, owned by the family of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin has become the centre of attention this morning following reports of its seizure on Dec 18.
However, a check by New Straits Times revealed there were no seizure notices or tapes around the compound.
Despite the seizure, employees were observed entering and exiting the premises seamlessly.
At press time, authorities, too, have not been spotted within the vicinity.
A personnel of Ilham Tower said there were no directives to evacuate the premises or any information regarding the seizure of the building.
When questioned about the seizure, the personnel appeared unaware and mentioned that normal business operations continued.
"I am not aware of the seizure, but everything is currently fine. There are no issues, and it is business as usual," said the personnel.
NST has reached out to MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki for comment.
Yesterday, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) seized the Ilham Tower, a building owned by the family of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin.
The seizure notice of the 60-storey building was dated Dec 18, and was published as an advertisement on a local news portal yesterday.
It was signed by MACC deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib and made under Section 38(1) of the MACC Act 2009, addressed to the Property Rights Registrar, Lands and Mines Office of the Federal Territories. - NST
