Natural Resources and Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has sent a letter of demand to Bersatu information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard.
This is over Badrul Hisham’s allegations of corruption in the awarding of flood mitigation projects, which Nik Nazmi has denied.
“Yesterday, my lawyers sent a letter of demand to Chegubard, asking him to immediately retract his remarks and issue an open apology over his slanderous statement.
“The fake allegations need to be dealt with legal recourse to guard my good name and authority, as well as that of the ministry and the federal government,” the PKR leader said in a statement on Facebook today.
Elaborating, Nik Nazmi said the government is committed to upholding the truth and fixing incorrect perceptions stemming from baseless allegations.
“With the ongoing legal proceedings, we reaffirm our dedication to transparency and compliance with the legal process.
“At the same time, we welcome any investigation by the police to act on the allegations made by Chegubard.”

Last week, Badrul Hisham claimed that millions in kickbacks were being paid out to secure flood mitigation projects.
This, he alleged, led to a significant hike in costs.
Nik Nazmi denied the claims, saying the cost instead shrunk to RM11.8 billion - lower than the RM15 billion allocated by the preceding government. - Mkini
