PETALING JAYA: Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg announced that the state has achieved a record-setting RM13.1 billion in revenue in 2023.
He said he was informed about the latest figures by the state financial secretary last week, Bernama reported.
“We reached RM13.1 billion because we received some dividends in December, making this a record in terms of our revenue.
“As we proceed with the revenue engineering undertaken by the state government and the implementation of various laws introduced recently, there is a possibility that our revenue will further increase.
“Hopefully, in 2024 and 2025, we will see a further increase (in revenue),” he told reporters after attending a Christmas open house at St Thomas’s Cathedral in Kuching today.
On Feb 2, Abang Johari said Sarawak had recorded a revenue of RM11.9 billion for 2022, surpassing its projected revenue of RM10.2 billion by 17%. - FMT
